Manga

I plan to review the shitton of manga I'm reading. I have tachiyomi installed on my tablet and an account on goddess... even if new series are shit I still have the old ones to go through. I will provide a link to MangaUpdates for these entries and will be classified according to the publication demographic indicated there.

Shoujo manga

I am not actually a fan of a lot of romance stuff since I am picky; but shoujo romances cater more to me than shounen romances; it's the female gaze-centric stuff that draws me in. I don't really pick fantasy/sci-fi/horror shoujo unless the synopsis hooks me. Most shoujo mangaka can't draw action for shit, or shade the way seinen mangaka can. But when it comes to interpersonal relationships, moping, slow burn, all that good stuff... *chef's kiss*

Josei manga

The "mature" version of the above, or so it seems. Lots more OL/salaryman/working adult stuff, and a little better at action sequences and complicated plots for certain genres. If I wanted a more complicated story or horror elements, I prefer this over shoujo. I don't really go for many of the litfic-tier stuff (to be elaborated on the seinen part) unless the premise draws me.

BL/yaoi manga

I am a fujo and when it comes to female gaze, this beats shoujo. I am not looking for complicated things. Rapey/dumb/stoic/tsun semes and assertive/tsun/stoic/manly ukes, give them all to me. Except traps, and most especially the "draw a girl call it a boy" type; might as well just read shoujo.

Shounen manga

I do watch shounen anime and read shounen manga, but lately I've been doing little of either. Sports anime are the only exception, but the last sports manga I read was Haikyuu!! and I stopped at the timeskip. Been looking for the least amount of female character fanservice possible, but few female shounen mangaka know how to draw action sequences properly and so I have to read fanservice shit. I only read shounen manga lately when I want dumb plots and action. Preferably those without the ecchi tag, because ew.

Seinen manga

I have a love-hate relationship with seinen manga. On the one hand, lots of female mangaka not writing about OL romance publish their stories in seinen magazines, and a lot of horror/thriller/mystery stuff here by either sex are genuinely good. On the other hand, I can absolutely tell if a seinen mangaka is male and is going to draw sexualized young women. Something about the way they draw or frame the characters, maybe. And I HATE the mopey first-world depressive self-absorbed shit many of them publish, like the litfic equivalent of middle-aged professors falling in love with highschoolers written by people who never matured mentally past highschool. Yes I blame whoever recommended Nijigahara Holograph to me, what a waste of time. On the other hand, lots of absolutely top-tier stuff here and I like reading actiony seinen more than shounen manga.

Anime

I haven't finished a new anime in like a year so this might not even get entries.

Video games

Might keep it to a minimum

Books
